Update for Camp Kip: Its being held at Cedar Creek Conference http://www.cedarcreekcenter.com/ This location has a Burleigh Grimes outdoor movie theater (12x9ft screen) and a Western town setup. Plus has a wine tasting and a mirco-brew event option which is kind of exciting. I think the western town is pretty cool and should be a lot of fun for photo taking.

February Lady Sweater-I am enjoying knitting this so much, I think part of it is the whole process of a KAL. On the Knit Wits message board on ravelry there are lots of people knitting this sweater so its great to be able to interaction with all of them. This sweater is also the 1st object where i have to knit buttonholes. AND IT IS SO EASY!! Mystery 220 February KAL-yarn is SO pretty! Botanical Artisan Yarn-30% silk, 30% mohair, 40% wool. Color is called Bold Coast, made in Waldoboro Maine.

One of these 3 beauts will be in my mailbox during the middle of march. And i have spent about 2 hours looking for a project to make with this yarn. I have two in the hopper.
Down on the Corner: My Draft for my own design for the rughooking pattern is complete…I need to go over to my parents house to use their big picture when to trace the design since I don’t have a big enough light box. I am thinking about making up kits to sell at this years fiber fair (craft show) circuit along with our frames.
That Should Cover it: Amanda and I made ourselves aprons on Friday. The aprons were kits we purchased at Joanns about a year ago and we just havent taking the time to make them.
I have used it twice this weekend. IS IT NOT SUPER CUTE!
The directions for the Aprons were very basic…it wouldnt have been a great option for something that was new to sewing. I think it’s an example of how the makers of the pattern assumed to call it “simple and easy” they needed to have as little steps of possible.
On episode 1 I mentioned the quilt i made for Nick but I didn’t take any pictures of it because he took it right up to school. He remembered to take a few and send them to me this week. (Yes about 2 months late but at least he remembered)
It has the dark blue demin all the way around the edge on this front side. The back side of the quilt is all demin. I was pretty happy with the final product.
Food for Thought:
- Spice cake with Cinnamon Buttercream
1 package of spice cake (box mix)
1 can condensed Tomato Soup
3 large Eggs
1/3 C vegetable oil
¼ C water
(can add ½ raisins and chopped pecans)
Mix for 2 to 3 mins and bake at 350 for 18-20mins (cupcakes)
- Cinnamon Buttercream
1 stick of butter (room temperature)
3 ¾ C Confectioner’s Sugar
3 to 4 Tablespoons Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Beat all together…frost the cupcakes and the put in fridge for at least an hour for frosting to set. ENJOY!

Indoors my dream room would be a sunny room surrounded by all my neatly displayed fiber and a nice comfy chair with music or a podcast or an audiobook playing in the background.
If outdoors on my patio on a nice warm sunny day with music, podcast, or book playing in the background.
In reality I’m on the couch surrounded by my dogs with either the TV on or podcast/music/audiobook playing in the background.

I don’t have the space for a craft room nor do i do much crafting besides knitting. All that said I do have a few things to list that would be essential:
1) Lighting, preferably plenty of natural
2) large working space
3) storage, drawers, cupboards and cubby holes
4) Organizers

My perfect crafting atmosphere is a room with large windows with lots of sunlight coming through and if it’s nice outside, the windows would be open with a slight breeze coming through.
There would be some music on in the background, maybe some pop, light or classic rock or If I don’t need to concentrate too much a podcast playing.

You’re so industrious! I’m in awe of how much crafting you get done.
I like to listen to podcasts or audio books whilst knitting. I also sometimes watch a little bit of rugby on the television. I’ve also been known to knit in the car (as long as I’m not driving obviously!) on longer journeys. Aside from that, curled up in a comfy armchair is always a good place for crafting!
Because I live in England, I don’t really have an area code.. The first part of my post code is LE (Leicestershire)

Hello,
I just love your podcast. I share in all of your crafts although the rug hooking was in the 80s. My stash/house is in the 304 area code, but I do most of my crafting in the 703 area code. My favorite crafting atmosphere is on my comfy oversized chair with my dogs on my lap or at my feet. I usually do all of my knitting/crocheting before work in my car, which is not a great atmosphere, but it is necessary for my sanity to start the day with crafting. I love crafting with others in groups, but the locations are not very comfy, hard chairs.

My favorite atmosphere for crafting is……early morning, especially on a stormy(preferably snowy) day, when I have the house to myself. It’s especially great if we are at our place in Maine, where the air makes me even more crafty, and inspired. I live (for now) in Guilford, Ct. area code 203.

I have a few favorites, my usual being on the couch with the laptop next to me on the table and listening to a podcast! Sometimes watching tv. When it’s warmer I love to bring a sock to the beach and knit away. I’m happy when I’m crafting! My area code is 631 – on the tip of Long Island, NY.

My favourite way to craft hmmmmmm, I love to craft on a rainy day when I am really motivated. I would either be under a blanket with knitting or sitting in a big warm sweater with a hot cup of tea. Usually there will be a knitting dvd in the background usually EZ occasionally the new spinning dvd we just bought. My area code is 1 and that is for all of Canada and then I have another area code for my city as well 🙂

I haven’t actually done it but I dream about knitting on a big cruise ship. My husband and I took a cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon and I wasn’t a knitter then! I would love to go back someday.

I just found your podcast. Very nice job. I live in 207 just outside of Portland. My favorite crafting atmosphere is a nice spring day with all the windows open. We just purchased a camp up in Denmark on Sand Pond. I have a feeling that this will be my new favorite knitting place, on the deck next to the water. 🙂

Hmm…I think my favorite crafting atmosphere is curled up on the couch with my sweetie nearby (who’s also a crafter), and some music or a podcast on in the background.

Hi Lori, I gave all 5 episodes a listen yesterday. It’s starting to come together very well. I will be adding it to my regular podcast list. I like that you bring in some different crafty elements. I’m not a big cooker, but I enjoy your recipe segment. I ALMOST wanted to try that fish chowder one, being a native New Englander.
I had to comment on your contest though. I was listening to this episode and went down to check the mail. The next Gilmore Girl discs had arrived from Netflix. As I popped the dvd in and picked up my current WIP I sighed to myself, now this is the how you relax on a Saturday afternoon. And just then you said to describe your perfect crafty atmosphere. I kid you not, that is exactly the way it happened. So, lounging in bed all day, catching up on podcasts and rewatching favorite tv shows is how we do it in the 215 aka Philly.

My favorite crafting room is a room with lots of natural light, plenty of counter/tabletop space and all my crafting supplies in accessible areas. (this is pretty much my current crafting area, except for the counter space. It is located in one of the corners in my bedroom.)

Hi Lori! Thanks for this great contest! My perfect crafting environment is many places – sometimes it’s my favorite knitting group with lots of friends, laughter and dropped stitches along the way…….sometimes it’s at home in my big comfy chair with the snow falling outside the window and big cuppa hot chocolate…..and sometimes it is sitting by a lake or the ocean (hopefully I’ll get to do that in the coming months!). My favorite crafternoon is a rainy day outside, snuggling next to my kitty on the couch watching obscene amounts of netflix! I particularly love watching TV shows like Legend of the Seeker, Dr Who, and any documentary by David Attenborough! Aaron usually spends the weekend days playing video games in the next room and we continually will shout goofy things at each other! Last addition to the perfect craft environment is a tasty beverage! Hot tea, cocoa, water and juice! (or some of those adult beverages you mentioned if the knitting is pretty simple!)

I love crafting when it’s a blustery day and I’m curled up with some hot tea, a good movie, my wonderful boyfriend and my cat. My apartment window overlooks (partially) the local bay, and I love it when it’s windy and I can see all the whitecaps on the water- or nearly any day around Sunset, because the sun sets over the water.
